  • Move towards local, social and political action, whether by mobilizing the community or by a community advocacy approach in policy-making or by bringing policy-makers and community members together to address common concerns
  • Aim at facilitating community groups and individuals to "empower themselves" in focusing on improving the collective health of groups who are less healthy and less privileged.

Benefits:

  • Community members know best what their own needs are. With their participation, change is likely to be more effective, ongoing and meaningful.

  • Collectively, it can strengthen individual’s sense of belonging to their community.
